Bhatghar Dam on river Velvandi also known as Llyod Dam is one of the highest river dam wall in India.
51 kilometres south of Pune, adjacent to Bhatghar dam. the royal palace of Bhor of is still present. Bhor was one of the princely states of British India founded by Shri Shankarji Narayan (Pantsachiv) in the year 1697, situated among the higher peaks of the Western Ghats, covered an area of 2,357 square kilometres. Bajiprabhu Deshpande lived in Shind, which is 8 km from Bhor. Forts Raireshwar, Rohideshwar are near Bhor.
Also present in the vicinity is the temple of Bhoreshwar, dedicated to Lord Shiva. A temple dedicated to goddesses Janubai and Khiloba are located in Mhalawadi, a village close by Bhatghar dam.
