Twin forts Lohagad & Visapur separated 1 km apart by a ridge at an altitude of 1350 m, were Shivaji`s stronghold during his reign.  Passing by a beautiful waterfall watch out for monkeys during the trek to Lohagad. Visapur right next to it, dating back to the 1700s offers not much to see. Located to the east of Lohagad fort Visapur Fort famous for its protective walls with intricate designs, has a huge plateau surrounding it.

10 kms from Lonavala Lohagad Fort was used for keeping prisoners in the year 1564.. There are three gates out of which First Delhi gate is a spectacular sight. The third gate especially is very exquisite. A huge cave outside was used for storing grains during the rainy season.Neare by is a tomb and a Shivlinga and tank of sweet water built Nanasaheb Phadnis. Nearby areBhaja caves.

By Road: Reach Bhaja village on Pune Lonaval road and trek 4 kms  to Visapur (on left) and Lohagad 12 km (on right Via Bhangarwadi Road). The Lohagad Visapur Trek is 1.8 km, 25 minutes.
