Gaurkund - Kedarnath - Vasukital - Pailtal

Go to Haridwar - Rishikesh by train and from there take Rishikesh - Gaurikund bus for 209 km. I.

Gaurikund- Kedarnath- Vasukital- Gaurikund- 44 km. I. - 3 days

Day 1: Leave in the morning from Gaurikunda at a height of 1981 meters. 7 km I. Have food at Rambada above. Height 2591 meters and stay at Kedarnath after 7-8 hours in the evening. The height of Kedarnath is 3583 meters. Many Dharamshalas, Lodges available for stay. In the evening visit Kedarnath. One of the twelve Jyotirlinga locations. Samadhi of Adya Shankaracharya.

On the next day, leave early in the morning. Because the height and pace are high and it is tiring. Vasukital 6 km. I. It is at an altitude of 4135 meters. The constant climb was tiring. The last 1 km. I. is a normal slope. one km I. Trijye has a very beautiful lake. If the air is clear, Chaukhamba peak can be seen. On the side, Mandakini is stirring. 2 kms next to Vasuki Lake. I. Above is another lake called Pantal. Its bottom is clearly visible and the stones seem to have been placed deliberately like paving.

Take some rest and descend back to Kedarnath as there is no accommodation and the cold winds are bone-chilling. Behind the temple of Kedarnath is the `Chorabaria` lake. Snowy peaks are close by and ice floes float in the lake. Now it has been named Gandhi Sarovar. The lake is 6 km from Kedarnath.

There is a temple of Bhairavnath nearby. Stay at Kedarnath for a day and experience the beautiful surroundings. You can`t go wrong with a guide for Vasukital. The period from May to October is best for trekking.
